Celaine

A young woman from a mystic tribe who collect parts of animals and have power to temporarily reanimate/revive them. Usually for war, protection or spiritual reflection. The tribe have long faced persecution and danger from outsiders, due to their "witch-like" powers, and all members are expected to choose a practical role, and gather appropriate animals.
Celaine was a quiet girl, enjoyed admiring the variety of birds brought in from far lands... she didn't like the expectation of having to choose a few favourites, or potentially fight with them. So she ran away with her colourful collection, seeking a calm life - has since wandered more regions and dared to trade with strangers, to obtain many more exotic feathers.

Reviving a bird takes some of her own energy/lifeforce to maintain, so usually she just has a few small birds fluttering around, for daily company. She tries to keep to herself, well away from trouble, but in a desperate situation she can still release her entire menagerie at once. The feathers tied on the end of her tail (or back of cloak) are of the largest, most flashy and fierce birds - turkey, eagle, peacock etc. Useful distractions or scares for enemies.
However if a phantom bird is 'killed again', or a feather is ripped too much, that enchantment is lost. Celaine does mourn a bit when she loses a 'companion'. Not to worry, she can always travel and pick up new feathers...

There's a quick painting of her in horse form (she was originally designed as an equine 'adoptable' for someone on DeviantArt to buy, but I ended up deciding against it). She's really a human. I'll get to that later...

I'll probably never finish her story in detail, but here's the rough outline! Maybe some other writers/roleplayers would be interested in developing this world/concept/other tribe members?
